Do you know someone who represents the best of the Yorkville CUSD 115 community? submit your nominations through march 1, 2019

Yorkville Educational Foundation’s 2nd annual “Fostering our Future” awards recognize educators, staff, volunteers and community members who go above and beyond in District 115. When you submit a nomination, you recognize that person for their efforts in support of the district and the students it serves. 

A special recognition celebration for all those nominated and their supporters will be held on April 17, 2019 at Earthmover Credit Union.


“Fostering Our Future” Award Categories

Nominations are accepted in eight categories including the “Golden Fox Award” which honors a District 115 employee of the year.  Supporting statements about the nominee from an administrator, colleague, parent, and/or a current or past student, will greatly enhance the submission.

  • Educator of the Year (Early Childhood through 6th Grade Certified Staff) -    This award is open to any certified staff member who goes above and beyond the scope of their job description to improve the District, its students and its employees at the K-6 grade level.

  • Educator of the Year (7th Grade through Adult Education Certified Staff) -   This award is open to any certified staff member who goes above and beyond the scope of their job description to improve the District, its students and its employees at the 7-12 grade level.

  • Rookie of the Year (Certified Staff) - This award is open to any certified staff member who has been an educator for five years or less.  He or she goes above and beyond the scope of their job description.  The nominee is not required to have been employed by Yorkville School District #115 for all five years.

  • Non-Certified Employee of the Year – This award is open to any non-certified staff who have gone above and beyond the scope of their job description. Examples of Non-Certified employees include: support staff, administrators, custodians and paraprofessional

2018 Spirit of the Fox Winner Jorge Ayala

  • Spirit of the Fox Award -This award recognizes any person who has shown outstanding dedication and commitment to the Yorkville CUSD 115 Community through participation or support in education, extracurricular activities, or in community events. This may include parents, alumni, teachers, or community members. This person embodies the fox spirit through their enthusiasm and passion for the district community.

  • Initiative of the Year  -This award goes to an initiative or project that was innovative and produced positive results during the 2018-19 year. Project is open to both district employees and district partners. Examples include: Extended Learning Opportunities, Books for Breakfast program, extracurricular groups, etc.

  • Partner of the Year - This award recognizes any District 115 partner that has gone above and beyond in their District partnership. A partner can be either a volunteer organization or a business that has shown commitment and fulfills a need within the Yorkville education community. Examples include: Boosters, District committee/councils, businesses participating in Extended Learning Opportunities, and Parent-Teacher Organizations.

In their nomination of Mrs. Munch, students called her their favorite and most impactful teacher that they ever had.

Known to always smile and try to help the students be successful, Mrs. Munch was referred to as a great teacher and person. “Every day you can walk into the room and know right there that you will have a good day,” a student wrote.

Parents also praised Mrs. Munch, noting that students exceeded all expectations when learning from this teacher. Providing an environment that leaves students feeling safe and secure, and quickly alleviate student frustrations by providing needed support.

"It is with all sincerity that I know that the growth my child has shown would not have come about if he ended up in a classroom other than Jennifer’s. She has made all of the difference."

About the Selection Process

The nominations will be reviewed and screened by a committee comprised of representatives from Yorkville Schools, auxiliary groups, and community members. The review process will remove all names from the applications to strive for the highest levels of impartiality.  The committee will determine the winners based upon nomination criteria. Nominees will be notified via a surprise announcement. They will also be invited to be Guests of Honor at the April "Fostering our Future" Awards where they will be recognized for their accomplishments.
