  2. Why did you get involved with the YEF?
Since 2015 I have made it my personal mission to give more to the world than what I’m taking. I volunteer at two other organizations and what appealed to me about Yorkville Educational Foundation is that it’s a very young organization with a big mission.

  3. Are you engaged in other ways in the Yorkville School District?
I have two children in the district. My oldest is a sophomore and my youngest one is in sixth grade. So I’m involved through the school activities, but no holding a position.

I’ve been in Yorkville for ten years.

  5. Do you have children visiting Yorkville schools?
As mentioned above I have two children in the Yorkville schools.

  6. Why have you chosen Yorkville as your home?
My husband came to Yorkville to visit a friend, and he liked what he saw. So we moved here from Chicago. I would say that it has been a wonderful experience.

  7. What’s your favorite place in Yorkville?
My favorite place in Yorkville is my backyard.  I specially enjoy it in the summer with the flowers booming, the birds singing, the butterflies and bees coming and going.  My second favorite place is by the river.

  8. What do you do outside the YEF?
My paying job is an accountant. I’ve been working for professional non-profits for the past ten years. I’ve just been accepted at Penn State University in their masters program.  So I will be an online student starting in May.

  9. What are your hobbies?
I have several hobbies. The one closest to my heart is scrapbooking.  I’m the story teller of my family history. I enjoy the creativity on a page while working on the most fun, important, milestone moments of my family. I also knit and crochet and do other art with paper. I love working on my flower and vegetable garden in the summer. I also love to travel and to learn languages.

Doug Williams, Director

About Doug

  1. What do you do at the YEF?
I am a newer member to the YEF team so my chief responsibility at this point is to provide fresh insight and ideas.  I also try to assist with other miscellaneous tasks that help the group move forward.  I anticipate being involved with various committees to help YEF reach its goals.

  2. Why did you get involved with the YEF?
My desire to get involved with YEF stems from the great experience I had as a student within the Yorkville School District.  I wanted to give back in some capacity and try to help a district that really prepared me well for life after my studies were complete.  I also believe that education can be transformative so anything I can do to help our school district improve was of great appeal to me.

  3. Are you engaged in other ways in the Yorkville School District?
Aside from YEF, my other main focus is the role of parent for multiple children within the district.  I take that role seriously to try and help my children do well in their studies, but also provide whatever assistance I can to the teachers and administrators so they can do their job better.

  4. How long have you lived in Yorkville?
I have lived in Yorkville for most of my life.  We moved to Yorkville in 1990 and I have lived here ever since.  I currently live in town with my wife and three children.

  5. Do you have children visiting Yorkville schools?
I have two children currently enrolled as students in the district, and a third who will begin in the next few years.

  6. Why have you chosen Yorkville as your home?
Even as Yorkville has grown, it has still maintained that small-town feel in many ways and that is what keeps me here.  Even though the population has grown since I first moved here, there is still a sense of pride in the community amongst the residents.  While the growth has been great with new amenities now available, the down-to-earth nature of the residents has never wavered.  Yorkville is also home to a great school district and parks department, which are vital in considering areas in which to raise a family.  For me, Yorkville is and will always be home!

  7. What’s your favorite place in Yorkville?
My favorite place is in my backyard.  Sitting outside on a nice night with my wife and watching our kids play on the swing set is very enjoyable!

  8. What do you do outside the YEF?
I am the Sales and Service Director for Earthmover Credit Union.  My primary area of focus is the branches and call center and ensuring that our staff members are taking excellent care of the people who patron our business.  I have worked for Earthmover over 9 years and have really enjoyed the various opportunities I have had within the organization.

  9. What are your hobbies?
Most of my time is spent with my wife and children and the various activities they partake in.  They really enjoy going to different parks in town, specifically the firemen’s park located down the street from our house.  I enjoy watching all sports, particularly football, as well.  In the fall, you will most likely find me in the house on the weekend watching games.  Any other free-time I have is normally spent watching The Office re-runs on Netflix.

  10. What is the best way to catch up with you?
The best way to reach me is via email.  If an issue or question ever requires more in-depth conversation, I am always happy to coordinate a time that we can talk on the phone or look for a place to meet.
